The building was provided by the Holy Family Hospital through the sincere efforts of Professor Mussadiq Khan, the then Principal, Rawalpindi Medical College, which was renovated and provided all necessary requirements of a burn centre. All expenses on renovation, equipment, management and treatment of patients of the burn centre and staff salaries were borne by RMCOF during 2007 to 2010. An exclusive operation theater for burn patients was established with financial assistance from Children of Islamic Nations (COINS) Canada an NGO of Muslim children, co-funded through a grant from the International Development Program (IDP) Wild Rose Foundation, Alberta Government, Canada.

Burn cases usually happen in the lower stratum of the society. Domestic burn accidents are fairly common because of illiteracy, ignorance, disregard for safety and traditional use of open fire, kerosene stoves and gas burners in the household are the common causes. In addition to this hot liquid burns are very common among children, along with social evils such as violence against women, criminal assaults and electric shocks which also contribute to burn cases.

The Centre also provides:

Due to lack of proper facilities for burn patients in the area, the mortality rate of burn patients is very high. This heart wrenching situation compelled the RMC graduates settled abroad to take concrete steps to help their poor and needy compatriots. They decided to establish a Burn Centre which covers a vast area of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and Azad Kashmir. The facility has a team of three trained and dedicated doctors including one Plastic Surgeon, eight nurses and other staff. All medication, treatment, nutrition and surgeries are provided free of cost to the patients. The Centre only admits major burns. whereas minor burns are treated in the OPD.

Initially the Centre has space of four beds only due to the limited funds and high cost of treatment. But, then it was handed over to the Punjab Government in September 2010 inclusive of staff and equipment. Keeping in view the flow of patient, the Punjab Government added four more beds.
